Well today is the last day of November and I hopped on the bike to go cycling. Not far but enough to complete the challenge from dailymile
. I’m happy. As a result, I took a closer look at the total miles for 2011 and realized that I am close to completing 2000 miles! What a surprise to find that out. On top of that, the cycling miles are on my one year old bike! I’ve gone though so much on my Specialized Sirrus Elite 2011 bike. Squeaks, creaks, flats and scary spooks rides. So, my new challenge is to complete the 2000 mile cycling trek by years end. I need to complete 188 miles and hopefully, the weather will cooperate and not get freaking cold or anything like that. That would really put a damper on things.
One more month! Keep on pedaling.
December 3rd is the memorial ride to Donna, Texas in remembrance of the missionaries that were killed in a car accident while cycling home. The ride is sponsored by Rio South Texas Cycling Coalition
(RSTCC) as their first inaugural event that they organized. RSTCC goal is to unit all cyclists in the Rio Grande Valley under one roof in order to better serve the cycling community in advocacy, training and awareness. The Remembrance ride is a group effort to honor the missionaries that were killed while out doing their good work. This ride is rather unique as there are two rides starting at opposite ends of the Valley riding to a central point (Donna), then joining up to ride together to the accident site to install two ghost bikes.
Anyone that wishes to take part is welcome to join us in the ride. Get there early for waiver signing as the ride is scheduled to depart at 8:30 AM. See the picture for details or check out the RSTCC Facebook site.
Well, I’m approaching the last week in November and I’ve cycled 170 miles out of 225 miles in the dailymile 225 miles in November challenge. I hope to have another 30-40 miles of cycling on Saturday as I will ride to the Ciclistas Urbanos social ride in the morning. That’s another 15-17 miles one way plus the social ride then the ride back home. I think I’m going to be sore tomorrow.
